Ali and Tuija Nylund Foundation was founded in 1997 by Tuija Nylund to promote women’s education and status, especially in developing countries. Tuija strongly believed that education is the key to equality and well-being, an idea that continues to shape our activities today.
GRANTS
The foundation fulfils its purpose by awarding grants and contributions. In recent years, approximately EUR 70,000 per year has been distributed in support.
Grants for students are administered by the respective partner universities. The foundation does not award grants directly to individual applicants. If you are interested in applying for a foundation grant, please contact your university.
The foundation also provides support to organisations. Freely formulated project applications can be submitted annually between 15 April and 15 May by email to: nylundinsaatio@gmail.com.

Decisions on awarded grants are communicated in June.
Applications must include a project description and a proposed budget. By submitting an application, the applicant consents to the processing of the information provided in the application. Information may be disclosed to, for example, authorities if required.

Applications are assessed based on the following criteria:
  • the project’s objectives align with the foundation’s purpose
  • the applicant’s capacity to implement the project successfully
  • a realistic budget in relation to the funds available for distribution
Applications are also compared with one another and with grants awarded in previous years. The Nylund Foundation does not provide individual justifications for its decisions.

AWARDED GRANTS
The foundation currently has an agreement with the University of Jyväskylä. Cooperation has also taken place, among others, with the University of Helsinki and Aalto University.
In addition, in recent years support has been granted to the following organisations and actors, among others:

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE RECEIVED SUPPORT

Organisations that have received support are required to submit a brief report on how the funding has been used. The report must be submitted by 1 May of the year following the grant award. Universities report separately on the progress of the students who have received support, in accordance with the agreement.

The content of applications is not published. The information provided in applications is stored by the foundation in accordance with data protection regulations (GDPR). The foundation requires that the information may be stored and that details of applications and granted support may be disclosed to authorities for the purpose of monitoring how grants are awarded and used. The information may also be used for statistical purposes and for research and development work.
We take corruption and misuse of funds seriously. If you become aware of any problems in how the support is being used, please inform the Nylund Foundation’s board as soon as possible.
